Port Clinton

Located on the north coast of Lake Erie, the city of Port Clinton, Ohio is a prime destination for boating, fishing, golfing and more.

Named after the “father of the Erie Canal” DeWitt Clinton, Port Clinton was first platted in 1827. Today, Port Clinton is a thriving lakeshore community that prides itself on its title of “Walleye Capital of the World,” its downtown revitalization program and its curbside recycling program.

While still considered a small community with just over 6,000 residents, Port Clinton offers a wide variety of housing from historic homes overlooking the lake to newly-built condos with boat docks. The city’s school system is considered excellent with four elementary buildings, one middle school and one high school.

Port Clinton’s excellent location makes it a jumping off point for the Lake Erie islands, including Put-in-Bay as well as the nearby communities of Marblehead and Catawba Island. In fact, one of the fastest ways to get to Put-in-Bay is the Jet Express ferry boats, located in downtown Port Clinton.

Port Clinton is located just 45 miles east of the city of Toledo, Ohio and is easily accessible by using S.R. 2 or the Ohio Turnpike (I-80/90).
